Potato and Turnip Rösti

Rösti would be a fancier term for the humble potato pancake. I added a couple of turnips in mine, seasoned with only fresh black pepper and salt.

Potato and Turnip Rösti
Servings: 2 pancakes

Ingredients:
  • 1 potato
  • 2 turnips
  • 20-25 black pepper corns
  • Salt as per taste
  • Olive oil to fry
To make:
  • Par boil the potato for 10-15 minutes.
  • Peel the potato skin and let it cool down.
  • Once cool, grate the potato and the turnip.
  • Add freshly ground black pepper and salt to season.
  • Mix everything together and form two patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan and drop your patties in to fry.
  • Flatten your patties with a spatula as much as possible.
  • Fry for approx 6 minutes on each side.

  10. This looks great but the turnips on picture look more like radishes. Are they large or small?

  11. Polwig - These are very small in size - less than the length of your finger...I wasnt sure myself about turnip vs radish :) A google image search shows them both to look the same. Whats the difference?!
